I should have gone with them from the start, very responsive service

I was very happy with the service that I received from British Home sellers. Charles in particular was excellent.

I had originally tried to sell my property in February going with a different well known online estate agent, however they did a poor job and did not handle the viewings well. Although my flat was in excellent condition and was only 5 years old and recently renovated it took them over 6 weeks to get an offer and the buyer eventually disappeared (no explanation ever given).

Therefore, I decided to relist with a new estate agent and this is when I came across British Home sellers. They were charging more than my previous estate agents and I had to handle the viewings myself but given my previous experience I thought this was probably for the best.

From the start they did a great job arranging viewings, thank you to Georgia. I received viewings more quickly than with my previous estate agent, and they all showed up! I split the viewings over two evenings to suit myself. I received 5 offers within a week of relisting the property!
Robert discussed negotiation with me and then spoke to the interested parties and I received an offer that I was happy with which was above the listed asking price. (It seems it's best in a hot market to price the property below the value you expect to get).

From that point onwards, Charles became my point of contact and he did a great job, having to navigate two solicitors that weren't exactly brilliant. He was easy to contact despite working part time and was always on top of the case. He handled the first time buyers very well and was always open and honest with me.
Unlike my previous estate agents, British home sellers offered no completion no fee so they were just as incentivised as I was to get it over the line.
It took slightly longer than expected from initial sale (August) to completion (December) but I think that resulted from both sets of solicitors.

Overall, I would recommend British home sellers and would use them again in the future.

When they asked about my experience I said I would give them 8.5/10.
(My only gripe was that they didn't have anyone to handle the key exchange upon completion)

Professional, efficient, polite, and they get the job done.

I had to take the time out to recognise and share my excellent experience with British homebuyers.

Communication when attempting to sell your property is essential and if done efficiently, can ensure a reduced stress process.

From offer to completion the process took under 2 months - this was a percentage of the average time it takes.

Molly ewen was extremely professional, supportive and efficient. Communication was an absolute pleasure. There was quality and efficiency throughout.

Hannah Parkin was extremely responsive and extremely kind and a pleasure to speak with always I was not left dissatisfied through anything we asked assistance and in getting updates.

Charles was an absolute pleasure to speak to and his years of experience was priceless, the support and patient and understanding was gold standard and at times even exceptional to say the least.

Alex was of huge assistance when it came to business transparency, target sales, markets and the conversations we had really helped make key decisions, in light of turbulent markets.

These members of the team were key players and allowed both speed and efficiency to flow, in a turbulent market and the perseverance and personal dedication to achieving customer satisfaction seemed at the backbone of their daily activity, a great team if you want to sell your property efficiently and have full say in the course of the process, throughout.

I'd definitely use British homebuyers again

After agreeing on a price the house market dipped! So we had to wait for the market to pick up and lowered our selling price. Not quite as expected (time wise) but the communication from Robert and Hanna was fantastic via phone, text and email. We would use them again.

Our house didn’t sell in the time frame…

Our house didn’t sell in the time frame as advertised due to the current market. Throughout the process I came across a few of the guys at BHS but Alex was very supportive & always kept me in the loop.
Right at the end of the sale I asked to be in contact with the buyer direct and the only reason I give 4 star is that no one actually contacted me to tell me when completion was done!! It was the buyer who kept me in loop.

Dubious marketing approach

Received a letter from this company after putting my home up for sale for £450k (a price based on 3 valuations) offering to buy my house directly for 89% of market value (Option 1 - £400k), or find a buyer for between 95 & 100% (Option 2 - 450k). After discussion, turned out the offer to buy directly was actually less than 79% of market value (£355k), although they continued to claim they could find a buyer for its full value. Given the dubious offer under their 'Option 1' there was no chance of wasting time on their 'Option 2'. It seems the figures they throw out to begin with are simply to draw you in.

Reply from British Homebuyers

Dear Justin,
Thank you for your time and your feedback is appreciated. We're sorry we could not produce offers high enough when you contacted us for further information.
We can't offer a cash price until we submit a property to be internally underwritten to determine what offer is realistic, for a customer to decide if the service is suited. We did this for you within 24hrs of you requesting it.
Figures depend on property location, type, condition, market & so doing this is important so that we can quickly explore figures for customers to conclude if we are suitable.
We have different routes to suit different customer situations. We offer a range of services, as our purpose is to achieve the best price in the timescales our customers ask for. So if one service isn't suited, it may mean another is a better fit.
Our specialty in the property sector is speed of sale, and we find our services offer a unique alternative to doing this.
Although we couldn't help in this instance, we are glad to hear you found our team member polite and good to deal with.
We wish you the very best in selling,
Kindest regards,
The British Homebuyers Team

Happily use them again !

We were very dubious about using them as there is no actual contact.
We were very impressed, they were there at the end of the phone and always responded quickly to anything we asked via text.
We had a tricky buyer and they were very supportive and would happily use them again

If I could leave 0 stars I would!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. After several conversations with one of their agents about the whole selling my home process, including asking twice about fees, I was told there were no fees only to receive a contract that stated 1.5% + VAT on completion. When I questioned this, the agent said she had stated the fees in earlier conversations. Unfortunately for her, I had a witness to what was said. I had heard bad things about this type of company but based on the reviews on here, thought I would give it a try. They say “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”. In this case it most definitely is. Please stay clear.

Dear Mr. Westaway,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, and please accept our sincere apologies for the confusion and frustration you experienced during your interactions with our team.

We genuinely care about ensuring that our clients have a smooth and transparent experience throughout the home-selling process, and we deeply regret any miscommunication regarding our fees. It's disheartening to hear that your expectations were not met, and we understand the disappointment this has caused you.

We want to clarify that while there are no costs involved when we purchase properties directly, our alternative services, aimed at achieving closer to market value, do include associated fees. This is not something we hide and is why it is clear in our agreement in writing before proceeding, where you noticed the fee.

Upon reviewing the call recordings, the discussion around fees was not explicitly initiated or addressed by anyone. However, it is our responsibility to ensure that such important details are communicated proactively and transparently during our conversations before we send our agency agreement. We apologize for the oversight on our part and assure you that we are taking steps to reinforce our procedures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The agent in question is genuinely upset by the distress this has caused you and we are confident it was a genuine oversight on her part.

Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we appreciate the opportunity to learn and improve from this experience. We're aware the industry has not got the best reputation and is why British Homebuyers was founded in 2013 to "clean up" the industry. Our services are genuine, ethical & designed to be industry leading.

We genuinely wish you the very best in selling your home.

Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly.

Warm regards,

The British Homebuyers Team

Happy Outcome

Because of a 'cladding issue', I was full of apprehension prior to engaging any agent for the sale of my flat.
However, after my initial contact with British Home Buyers, I was convinced there was every realistic hope of an eventual sale.
I formally commited myself solely to their services and in the course of time it transpired that in dealing with clients and solicitors they proved to be outstanding.
Without delving into the minutiae of the sales procedure itself, it suffices to say that the main emphasis of my review ought rightly to focus on three individuals whose exemplary performance distinguishes them as worthy of special mention.
My first contact was with Sabrina Monastero. She listened with unexpected patience and tolerance to a lengthy explanation of my peculiar circumstances.
Her response was both sympathetic in tone and hugely encouraging in suggesting practical steps by which we can go forward. She gave me immense hope and I was from that moment relieved of my earlier anxiety that my property might have been unmarketable. Sabrina was truly a breath of fresh air.
In the next stage of the sales procedure, Robert Love displayed great competence in the public relations skills necessary for attracting and acquiring potential buyers. He efficiently arranged viewings [co-ordinating mutually convenient dates and times], liaised with me at every step, and directed the entire process of narrowing down the bidders to a selection of the most likely candidates. He did this with conspicuous self assurance, attention to detail and knowledge of the market. He was simply brilliant.
Finally, and by no means least, mention must be made of Charles Gale. Once the formal offer was made, accepted, and the solicitors were engaged, Charles was a guiding mentor of the first order. His years of experience in the profession were apparent and after my introductory contact with him, I knew I was in safe, competent hands. He took the initiative of informing me at each important juncture -- in language that was direct, balanced and realistic, giving accounts of the direction and organic pace at which matters were progressing. He not only was concerned in keeping me updated with advice at specific key moments, but scrupulously consulted all parties involved: keeping up with the all important stage at which solicitors conduct exchanges of questions and replies. He imparted to me all those relevant points in regular emails, text messages, phone calls where, in every instance, the information was purposeful and enlightening -- with fresh angles for discussion. It slowly grew evident that his defining features combined a conscientious sense of profesionalism with a certain personable quality of character which made him almost uniquely communicative in the most helpful of ways.
To this day, I feel fortunate and privileged to have had the benefit of Charles Gale's support and sound judgement. When the sale of my flat was duly 'Completed', I could not help but feel in his congratulatory statement an expression of sentiment that the accomplishment was equally shared between us. Such was his commitment to the task.
This is all based on direct experience.
